MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN

Chairman would like to thank the handful of hard working members  that made the effort and turned up to help with the track erection last weekend.  He would also like to make all league members aware that unless we have a Treasurer in place in the next week or so, there will be no prize money handed out at the first race meeting as it is the Treasurer that obtains the money from the bank and prepares all the prize money envelopes and as we currently do not have one then this task will not be done!

MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN

Can everyone please attend the track this weekend, Saturday and Sunday depending on weather.  Can everyone please give up some of their time even if it's only an hour to help out so that we can race on 9th March.  If the track isn't ready, then there will be no race meeting.

MONSTER TRUCK SHOW AT MILLENNIUM STADIUM- 27th November

Well done to Norman Mason, Endaf Owens, Dickie Lindsay and Gareth Paines on participating on behalf of the league at the Millennium Stadium.  The show was great, and the Class 7s who ttok part certainly promoted the sport of autograss well.  You will soon be seeing Stormin Norman's name all over the place as he had a queue of people wanting his autograph during the "Party at the Pitts".

NEXT LEAGUE MEETING - 21st November

Next meeting 21st November when the BAS round will be discussed.  There have been many changes made in the league since the AGM last week.  Every league member from this season will shortly be receiving a newsletter detailing all the amendments.  It is very important that you read it thoroughly as there are conditions in the new rules which were passed at the AGM meeting which will/may have an effect on whether you will continue to be a member of this league.  Other important amendments are, unless there are 5 members present from each area at the league meetings in future, then there will be no further meetings and no committee to run the league, the Chairman and other committee members do not believe there is any point continuing with the league meetings unless there are more than 4 people in attendance at the meeting.  Please bear in mind that our Chairman drives 2 hours to get to these meetings to try and get the opinions of league members as to what they want done in the league, to the track etc.  Unfortunately, it has now got to the point that the committee do not see a point of holding a meeting when there are only 4 other people in attendance as the committee can make these decisions over the phone to each other if no league members are interested in what is going on in the league.  The league qualifiers have also been changed for next season.

Can everyone who has an email address in the South Wales League please send me your details so that the important Newsletter can be emailed directly to you when it is ready to save on postage costs.  My email is cm.40@virgin.net.

OCTOBER NEWS

Happy Birthdays to Adam Jones TA44; Bobbie Neale PHD73; and Norman Mason PHD137. Congratulations to Martyn & Nia James CM14 on the birth of their baby daughter Gwen last weekend.

Important news regarding rules at the South Wales League race meetings - any unauthorised people that are in the pitts area during the race meeting will be asked to leave immediately and the race meeting will not continue until they have left.  Should anyone refuse to leave, then the driver that they are associated with will be penalised by not being able to participate in the race meeting, if they are South Wales League members then they will also have all their accumulated league points for that race meeting cancelled.  If any family members wish to enter the pitts during racing, then please apply for a members licence and sign on at pitts control.

POINTS SYSTEM FOR LEAGUE 2008

Just so that everyone knows the points system correctly from the beginning of the season.  The points from the heats and the final will be added together to give a grand total. The points are as shown below.  For the opens, points will be based on finals only.  There will be League Trophies presented at the end of the year in the League dinner to 4th place in each class, however, it will depend on how many are in the Ladies classes.  The points given in the finals will be for the position that you cross the line regardless if there are any other League cars in the race, so if you cross the line in 3rd place and there are 2 cars from another League ahead of you, you will be given 3rd place points and not 1st place points as it used to be years ago.  Any problems please see any of the League Committee who will explain all.  There will be 5 qualifying meetings in 2008 with 4 out of 5 to count.  There are no League Points given for the Dash 4 Cash/Trophy meeting.
